Every summer we run the newest robotic pool cleaners through the same gauntlet: leaves, acorns, fine dust, algae film on the waterline, and a 40-foot gunite pool that punishes weak climbers. We've been doing this since 2011 — 70+ robots tested on real pools, more than 10,000 pool owners helped — and 2026's field is the strongest we've ever seen.

Below are the seven robots we actually recommend this year, ranked, with the honest reasons to pick (or skip) each one. If you want the fast answer instead, our 60-second quiz will match a robot to your exact pool.
Key takeaways
- Best overall: Dolphin Premier — multi-media filtration, dual motors, 3-year warranty.
- Best value flagship: Dolphin Quantum — ProLine power at a Max-Series price.
- Best for crystal-clear water: Clear UV — UV-C sanitation plus 1-micron filtration.
- Best above-ground: Dolphin Escape — commercial-grade motor under $700.
- Corded still wins: for whole-pool coverage and lifespan, corded robots beat cordless in our testing every year.

How we picked these robots
Our rankings come from hands-on testing, not spec sheets. Each robot is scored on the five things that decide real-world results:
- Debris pickup — leaves, acorns, sand, and fine silt on the same test surfaces.
- Coverage — floor, walls, and waterline, verified over repeated full cycles.
- Filtration — how clear the water looks after a cycle, and how easy the filters are to empty.
- Reliability and warranty — build quality, seal design, and manufacturer support. We service what we sell, so we see exactly which models come back.
- Value — what you actually get per dollar, including included extras like caddies and timers.
We're a factory-authorized dealer for Dolphin (Maytronics), Aquabot, and Beatbot, and every robot below ships free with 30-day returns and a full manufacturer warranty. You can read more about how we test on our About page.

1. Dolphin Premier — best overall

Dolphin Premier
$1999.00 $2499.00 Save 20%
Commercial-grade dual motors, interchangeable multi-media filtration (oversized leaf bag, fine cartridges, and optional NanoFilters), full floor-to-waterline coverage, and a 3-year warranty.
View Details → Free shipping · 30-day returns
The Premier has topped our test pool rankings for years, and the 2026 season didn't change that. Its signature trick is multi-media filtration: swap between an oversized leaf bag for fall cleanup, standard cartridges for everyday dirt, and ultra-fine media when pollen season hits. No other robot in this class adapts to changing debris like that.
In testing, the Premier's dual scrubbing brushes and CleverClean navigation covered our gunite test pool completely in under three hours, climbed to the waterline on every pass, and never beached itself on the main drain. It's the robot we recommend first for inground pools up to 50 feet — and the 3-year warranty is among the best in the industry.
Skip it if: you have a small, simple pool and don't need interchangeable media — the Quantum below saves you real money.
2. Dolphin Quantum — best value flagship

Dolphin Quantum
$1649.00
Flagship-level cleaning with an oversized top-load fine filter basket, wall and waterline scrubbing, and weekly scheduling — typically hundreds less than comparable flagships.
View Details → Free shipping · 30-day returns
The Quantum is the robot we point to when someone asks, "What's the least I can spend without regretting it?" It delivers nearly everything the Premier does — wall and waterline climbing, a huge top-load fine filter basket, weekly timer — at a noticeably lower price. The top-load basket is genuinely easier to empty than bag-style systems, and its fine mesh caught the silt in our test pool that coarse baskets let sail through.
It gives up the Premier's interchangeable media and a year of warranty, which is exactly why it costs less. For most pools without heavy leaf load, that's a smart trade. See how they compare head-to-head in our Premier vs. Quantum breakdown.
3. Dolphin Sigma — best for large and complex pools

Dolphin Sigma
$2399.00 $2999.00 Save 20%
Gyroscope navigation, triple motors, Wi-Fi app control, and oversized fine filters — the most capable navigator we've tested on large, complex pools.
View Details → Free shipping · 30-day returns
The Sigma is the flagship for difficult pools: 45–50 foot lengths, deep ends, odd geometry, benches, and coves. Its gyroscope-based navigation builds a systematic cleaning pattern instead of a semi-random one, and in our testing it's the model that most consistently finishes complex pools without missed patches. Triple motors give it the strongest wall grip of any Dolphin, and the Wi-Fi app lets you schedule and spot-steer from your phone.
If your pool is a straightforward rectangle, the Sigma is more robot than you need. If it's big, deep, or complicated, it's the one that won't leave stripes of missed dirt.
4. Clear UV — best for crystal-clear, healthier water

Clear UV
$1999.00 $2999.00 Save 33%
UV-C sanitation neutralizes bacteria and algae as it cleans, while UltraFilter 1-micron filtration polishes water clarity beyond what standard cartridges can do. App control and a 3-year warranty included.
View Details → Free shipping · 30-day returns
New to our top rankings, the Clear UV pairs conventional scrubbing and vacuuming with an onboard UV-C chamber that zaps bacteria and algae spores as water passes through, plus 1-micron UltraFilter media that removes particles standard filters can't touch. The result in our test pool was visibly "polished" water — the kind of clarity you otherwise chase with clarifier chemicals.
If you fight recurring algae or cloudy water, or you simply want the clearest water on the block with less chemical demand, this is the robot to buy. Read more about UV robots or the full Clear series.
5. Clear S — best smart features

Clear S
$1749.00 $2749.00 Save 36%
Full floor-to-waterline coverage with app control, smart scheduling, and ultra-fine filtration — a modern flagship experience with a 3-year warranty.
View Details → Free shipping · 30-day returns
The Clear S is the Clear UV's sibling for pool owners who care most about the app experience: scheduling, cleaning modes, and cycle history from your phone, with the same strong floor-walls-waterline coverage and ultra-fine filtration. It skips the UV-C chamber, which makes it the more affordable way into the Clear series.
Between the two: pick the Clear UV if water quality is the priority, the Clear S if you mainly want a great smart robot. Either way you get a 3-year warranty and Wi-Fi app control.
6. Dolphin Escape — best for above-ground pools

Dolphin Escape
$669.00 $899.00 Save 26%
Commercial-grade dual motors and HyperBrush scrubbing in a compact robot built for above-ground pools up to 33 feet — no hoses, no booster pump.
View Details → Free shipping · 30-day returns
Above-ground pools don't need a wall-climbing flagship — they need strong floor cleaning that doesn't cost four figures, and that's exactly what the Escape is. It uses the same commercial-grade motor DNA as Dolphin's big robots, scrubs with an aggressive HyperBrush, and its top-load filter basket empties in seconds. In our 24-foot above-ground test pool it cleared a full week of debris in a single 90-minute cycle.
It's the obvious pick for any above-ground pool up to about 33 feet. Watching the budget? Open-box and refurbished Escapes regularly appear in our budget section.
7. Dolphin Liberty 200 — best cordless

Dolphin Liberty 200
$999.00 $1249.00 Save 20%
Maytronics' first true cordless robot — floor and wall cleaning with zero cable management and up to 90 minutes per charge.
View Details → Free shipping · 30-day returns
We'll be straight with you: for most pools, corded robots still win on power, runtime, and price. But if a cord is a dealbreaker — detached spas, rental properties, pools with awkward outlet placement — the Liberty 200 is the cordless robot we trust. It's built by Maytronics (the same company behind every Dolphin above), cleans floors and walls for up to 90 minutes per charge, and parks itself at the waterline for easy retrieval when the cycle ends.
How to read a spec sheet without getting fooled
Four numbers do most of the marketing work in this category, and three of them mean less than they look like.
Pool-size ratings are a ceiling, not a target. A robot rated to 50 feet doesn't clean a 30-foot pool better than one rated to 33 feet — it just finishes sooner. Buy the rating your pool needs and spend the difference on filtration.
"Cleans walls" and "cleans the waterline" are different claims. Plenty of robots climb; far fewer hold position at the tile line long enough to actually scrub it. If the ring at your waterline is the thing that bothers you, confirm waterline scrubbing specifically.
Filter micron ratings matter more than basket size. A huge coarse basket collects leaves and leaves the haze behind. Ultra-fine media is what makes water look polished rather than merely debris-free — which is why every robot in this ranking is fine-media capable.
Warranty length is a proxy for confidence. Manufacturers price warranties from their own return data. A three-year warranty on a flagship isn't generosity; it's a statement about failure rates. It's also the spec that costs you nothing until it matters.
Which one should you buy?
- Most inground pools: Dolphin Premier — or the Quantum to save money.
- Large, deep, or complex pools: Dolphin Sigma.
- Algae- or clarity-obsessed: Clear UV.
- Above-ground pools: Dolphin Escape.
- Must be cordless: Dolphin Liberty 200.
Our verdict
If you want one answer: buy the Dolphin Premier for a leafy inground pool, the Quantum if your debris is ordinary and you'd rather keep the difference, and the Escape if your pool is above-ground. Those three cover the overwhelming majority of the pools we're asked about, and none of them has changed position in our ranking for good reason — they keep coming back for warranty work less often than everything around them.
