What Refurbished Actually Involves
A refurbished cleaner has been in a pool. It comes back, gets stripped down, and is rebuilt to factory spec: wear parts — tracks, brushes, filter media, impeller seals — are replaced rather than cleaned, the motor unit and power supply are tested under load, and the cleaner runs a full cycle before it is boxed. If it doesn't pass, it isn't sold.
We are a factory-authorized Maytronics (Dolphin) dealer, which is what makes these units worth buying. Every open-box and refurbished cleaner we list is inspected and bench-tested in-house, ships complete with its power supply, filters, and documentation, and is registered for genuine manufacturer warranty coverage. That is a different product from a marketplace "renewed" listing of unknown origin, where the warranty is usually void and the missing filter cartridge is your problem.
Why This Is the Best Value on the Site
Refurbished is where the savings are largest, and the maths is hard to argue with: a refurbished Premier or Quantum lands around what a brand-new entry-level robot costs, and it isn't the same class of machine. You get commercial-grade motors, Multi-Media™ or NanoFilter™ filtration, wall climbing, and waterline scrubbing instead of floor-only cleaning through a coarse filter. As one of the largest authorized dealers and retailers of robotic pool cleaners online, we've hand-tested 70+ robots across every major brand — every recommendation below comes from real poolside experience, and every unit we sell is factory-direct with a full manufacturer warranty.
What to Expect Cosmetically
Light handling marks on the shell or tracks are normal and are exactly what you're being paid to accept. Function is not a variable — every unit is tested to the same standard as new. If you want a cleaner that is visually indistinguishable from new, buy open box instead; the comparison table lays out the trade.
Refurbished vs. a Marketplace "Renewed" Listing
- Warranty. Ours carry genuine manufacturer coverage. Third-party "renewed" units are usually out of warranty entirely, and Maytronics will not honour a unit refurbished outside its network.
- Parts. We replace wear parts with OEM components. Grey-market rebuilds run whatever fits.
- Completeness. Power supply, filters, and documentation are confirmed in the box — the single most common complaint about marketplace units.
- Support. You can call us afterwards. That is generally not true of a marketplace seller.
What to Buy
Take the Premier if your pool is under trees — dual commercial motors and a Multi-Media™ leaf bag make it the heavy-debris champion, and refurbished pricing is the cheapest legitimate way into it. The Quantum is the all-rounder for a typical inground pool, the Sigma is the one for large or complex pools, and the Escape covers above-ground.
