Bulky, rigid debris like twigs requires a large debris opening and a roomy basket. Powerful models pull twigs in and store them without jamming; underpowered cleaners bulldoze them into corners. As a rule of thumb, anything up to pencil thickness is fine for a strong robot — skim out larger branches by hand first.

Storm Cleanup Routine
Twigs usually arrive with a storm, alongside leaves and mud. After a blow: skim the big debris, run a full robot cycle for twigs and leaves, empty the basket, then run a second cycle with fine filtration for the silt that settles last.
