The short answer

These two ProLine cleaners are closer than the price gap suggests. Both scrub the floor, walls, and waterline of inground pools up to 50 feet, both take NanoFilters, both run on an onboard weekly timer, and both are fully saltwater-compatible. On a clean rectangular pool with ordinary dirt, you would struggle to tell their results apart.

The split is debris. The Premier's Multi-Media system lets you change how the robot filters as the seasons change — including an oversized leaf bag that swallows a whole-yard leaf drop. The Quantum bets on one very large, very convenient basket instead. Pick the Premier for capacity, the Quantum for convenience and value.

The Premier is the only cleaner in its class that changes filtration type rather than just filter size. Four media options ride in the same housing: the oversized leaf bag for fall, standard cartridges for everyday dirt, fine media for summer grit, and ultra-fine NanoFilters for pollen season or the dust left behind after an algae treatment. When oaks and maples let go, cartridge robots pack solid partway through a cycle and quit collecting; the Premier's bag keeps swallowing. Its Media-Alert indicator also tells you when the media is full instead of leaving you to guess.

The Quantum answers differently: one XXL MaxBin, the largest top-load basket in the Dolphin range, loaded from the top of the machine. You lift the lid, pull the basket straight out, hose it off, and drop it back — under a minute, no clips, no bag to wrestle, nothing to reseat wrong. For a pool that collects fine dirt, dust, and sand, that capacity is plenty and the convenience is genuinely better than the Premier's.

Motors and cleaning performance

The Premier runs dual commercial-grade motors — the same class of motor Maytronics puts in machines that run all day at swim clubs. In practice that shows up as consistency rather than raw speed: it climbs to the waterline the same way in week one and week two hundred, and it doesn't strand itself on main drains or step corners.

The Quantum's dual high-output motors are a tier down on paper, but on residential duty cycles the gap almost never surfaces. What the Quantum adds instead is PowerJet waterline jets, which help it pin itself against the tile line while it scrubs — a genuinely good bit of engineering on the surface most robots handle worst.

Both use SmartNav scanning to map the pool rather than bouncing randomly, and both are rated to 50 feet. If your pool is unusually large, deep, or oddly shaped, that's the argument for the gyroscope-guided Sigma rather than for either of these.

Living with each one

Ownership is close to identical. Set the weekly timer, and the robot runs its schedule without being asked. Pull it out between cycles rather than leaving it parked in the water, rinse it with fresh water, and store it out of direct sun — that routine is most of what separates a robot that lasts three seasons from one that lasts ten.

The one daily difference is emptying. The Quantum's basket is a thirty-second job. The Premier's leaf bag holds several times more but takes a couple of minutes and gets messier. If you're the person who will actually clean the filter after every cycle, that difference matters more than the spec sheet suggests.

A seasonal rhythm works well on the Premier: leaf bag through fall, standard cartridges over summer, NanoFilters when pollen dusts the patio. On the Quantum, most owners run the standard basket year-round and add NanoFilters for pollen season.
